Sunrise Birthing
How lovely it would be
To drown it all in fantasies
So sweet my whole body sobs.
How I crave
To muffle the storm raging forth from these cracks
Of my front
Into a more tender lull.
But right here in this body another body wakes
With songs surpassing all their suppression—and mine.
Right here in this body another body aches
With dignity denouncing all their domination —and mine.
So right here a second birth, long dreaded, longer dreamt
Declares, “I am.”
Thus utterly spent, I bid the dear darkness goodbye,
And high on liberation, murmuring—
Like a brook of Spring
“All triumphs be to the Lord of the Dawn.”
